On the brink of insanity...

So, today was the start of my second month in hell! I'm in a mixed up state of mind right now, so if this post doesn't make a lot of sense, that's the reason!

Days are just blending into one another at the moment, it's the same thing, day in, day out. Get up, get ready for work, spend 9 hours trying not to lose to plot and start screaming at yet another ignorant person who just about brings themselves to grunt in my general direction, being sniped at by my boss, and then coming home, going to bed and waking up the next day just to repeat the same crap again.

They say all work and no play made Jack a dull boy...well...all work and no play is making shop girl a deranged, over-emotional wreck!
I've developed 'till OCD'...umm..I'll explain. My notes in my till MUST face the same direction, silver strips all in the same place...and all notes must be pushed to the back of the till. Credit card slips must all be in a neat stack, signed ones together, pin ones together, and not mixing. Coupons must be sorted into type, and they also have their own section. I'm not happy unless this is how my till is!
I'm a clean freak too...I'm not happy unless you can smell the cleaning stuff as you walk past my till. (ME..of all people like?!)

As I've said before, this job is seriously getting in the way of my social life (my liver doesn't know how to process liquid that doesn't contain alcohol...it's terribly confused right now!)..so, to remedy this, I thought I'd ask for next weekend off, maybe do something! Easy, right? Right? Wrong! My evil BITCH of a boss wouldn't give it to me.
Before it's said..no, I'm not just throwing a tantrum because I'm not getting my own way...
I went to work on Saturday, and asked for the roster for this week...and was informed, by my boss, that it had been up, but she'd had to change it to give people time off. Pointedly. I jump to the natural conclusion that I've been given the time off, but that it hassled her, so to be grateful. Off skips me to the roster...find my name (I'm actually ON it this time)...only to find that the sly witch has put me down for every hour she can at the weekend.
I'm so ridiculously pissed off...I work every shit hour she throws at me, working the late lates, the long shifts, all because y'know, I like to be obliging, and if I don't do it, someone else has to. I do this...and then people come in, newer than me, and pick and choose their shifts. Sound unfair to anyone else???

I'm too annoyed to even think of anything else...I'm going to go before I annoy myself even more!

I swear I could have written this word for word ten years ago.

I'm hoping it passes quickly enough before I'm done for murder! I'm sure Tesco frowns on that kind of thing...

I've studied most these shops' structures... trust me when I say Tesco is one of the best.
Checkout work is sh!t though ...and for lazy people :P

darren: I swear I could have written this word for word ten seconds ago.... cept I'd be praising the monotony of it all.

It is shit...but not lazy...I'm always running around looking for something for some plank of a customer who can't be arsed looking for it themselves.

And those chairs kill your back...

Go with it. You'll be loaded from all the hours of work and not going out. Then you can enjoy yourself big time when you have a weekend off.

Bright side?

Ok...you're right! I need to be optimistic or I'll drive myself mad! (even more so!)

ah... see where I work the policy is to call someone else to go find the product for those customers.

We don't have people to do that...and they probably wouldn't do it if we did! Our cleaners don't clean (they don't like the smell of some things), our managers don't manage..tis just one big shambles!

well it was all chaotic when I stepped into my post as shop saint....
but I kept doing little good deeds here, there and yonder until the whole store united in their admiration for me.

I'm thinking of stepping into the role of shop psycho...it wouldn't be too much of a leap!

Lottie...why don't I trust that lil winky face? (could it be because I know you??)

Walk out to the bins some time, you'll find the shop psycho there... you'll never match him.

Just to be clear, it's not me.

I don't actually know where the bins are...I never go there!

I actually remember being like that when I worked in Dunnes many many moons ago, I still have to have the notes in my wallet all facing the same way and have to go from highed denomination down.
